If you’re looking for a way to get away from the hustle and bustle of everyday life, sleeping in the trees while on holiday at Hermann’s Cottage is the perfect way to do it. Add the cottage to the top of your Hermann accommodation list.
Hearing the word “trees”, images of pirates, princess castles and daring adventures immediately begin to appear in our minds, which will probably put a smile on your face. I’ve actually always wanted to grow a tree house but never had the chance. Fortunately, not everyone forgets the joy of aging treehouses, and that’s actually how the vision began.
We recently had the opportunity to live out this childhood dream of a vacation at the Hermann Villa. I was joined by my photographer and my best friend (husband’s name) and we were very nervous to arrive.
While “trees” may make you think of your childhood and playing outside, let me add a little grown-up to the mix. This Hermann bed and breakfast is just minutes (or a trolley ride) from some of Missouri’s best wineries.

Now that I’ve stayed in this treehouse with my husband, options for a weekend getaway, girlfriend getaway, and even a weekend night or family vacation are also on my radar. With four different cabins/treehouses offering four different layouts and experiences, we have absolutely found our “happy place” in the heart of Herman Hills.
Our reservation at this beautiful Missouri property had us staying one night in an original tree house called “Sunset”. We were actually able to pick them up (which anyone can do when ordering if they’re available) and I’m so glad we did.
We chose this tree house because it is the perfect size for two adults and was the first house built on the property. To us, this meant that this was the starting point of their hope to please people like us. This tree house was their “dream home” and how their vision came to life.
While there was parking right outside the front door of Sunset Tree, I loved the view of the highway leading up to it. Being able to enjoy all the sights of nature through hiking I often find my inner peace and happiness. I walked this trail several times during our stay and each time I noticed something beautiful and different.

As soon as you arrive at the Cottage, you will feel how the years melt away and the smile of youth conquers you. It’s impossible not to feel like you’re giving your inner child what it’s always wanted.
Even more than that, the owners of this Missouri location are literally warm and welcoming from the moment you step onto the property. We were greeted with smiles and I knew right away that not only would we make memories during our stay, but we had just made some lifelong friendships.
Since we are sometimes known for talking a little (okay, a lot), we asked them about anything and everything we could think of. All the while their responses and faces were full of life, goodness, peace and grace. Owning and managing a property has confirmed to them that hard work and determination to work towards a goal and then be able to share it with others is truly a dream come true.
Their joy and pure happiness is evident in every detail of The Cottage. Their love of seeing other people happy and relaxed is what always sets this Tree Bed and Breakfast apart. They want people to come and relax. They encourage people to turn off contacts. The purpose of being one with the trees is to be able to allow yourself the freedom to simply “be”.

After being welcomed and given a helpful guide on how to work in the Sun Tree, we were left alone and had our first choice for relaxation: coffee! We didn’t really have to do anything but walk across the wood floor, grab our sweet cups of Cottage Coffee, and hit the start button on the Keurig. They have it ready and waiting to go so we can make a few quick cups and sit back and relax.
To be honest with you, when we were inside the sunset tree, I was ready to sit in a nice window seat, relax and just look out all the windows. Not only were we in the trees, but we were there. mountain peak too (Missouri Mountain – but in my mind it’s the same!). With highlights of snow on the ground and trees and branches without leaves, our view of Hermann was stunning. Comfortable silence anyone?
Since my husband took this picture of me covering everything, I had to do the same with him, but I did it while he was on our floor. Did I mention there are windows and views everywhere?

The property features Cabin, Sun Tree and Sun Tree accommodation options, all with incredible features and views.
What we liked most about The Cabin tour was that it was equipped with three beds (for small families or larger groups) and also had a ramp leading to the front door with access to the main floor.
As soon as we stepped into the house, our whimsy took over and we were completely immersed in every well thought out detail. Upstairs we noticed there was a door that led to an outside deck and that deck had one of the biggest surprises of all – a hot tub and a view of the stars!
