Students will be able to describe important events in the history of dentistry and identify dental skills and members of the dental team as well as discuss the skills used by the dental assistant, including communication, office management, infection control, and basic housing allowances. Students will be able to describe the various aspects of a dental office, including the design of a dental treatment office, the medical equipment commonly found in a dental office, and the basic functions of a dental office. Students will also learn business dental office functions and the basics of front desk operations, using dental office management software to schedule appointments, manage dental records, communicate with patients , and manage accounts including insurance application form components. In addition, students will be able to cover the federal and state laws governing dental care as well as the ethical principles established by dental professional associations. Requirements: None

Students will be able to describe the functions of the body system and identify the signs of the oral cavity and the anatomical parts of the head and neck. Students will be able to identify dental arches, tooth names, tooth surfaces, and gingival structure. Students will learn the anatomical features of teeth, dental occlusion and malocclusion, and permanent and permanent teeth. Clinical practice-based learning experiences that enable the student to apply the work-specific learning, knowledge, skills, and concepts that dental assistants must master to master the most commonly used drugs in dentistry and how to deal with dental emergencies, including providing treatment.
