Defiance, Missouri’s history dates back to 1804 with explorers Meriwether Lewis, William Clark and Daniel Boone. Daniel Boone’s four-story Georgian-style home can still be visited. In addition to its long history, four wineries operate within a two-mile radius and nearly a dozen more in the next 15 miles on the road to Dutsow. The region, which stretches all the way to Augusta, Missouri, is the oldest wine region in the United States. Chandler Hill Vineyards is a young winery that has been in business since 2008, but has some of the most spectacular views in the area.

Hermann is a city designated in 1842 as the county seat of Gasconade County, Missouri, United States. It is in the middle of the Missouri Rhineland and south of the Missouri River.
