This Alabama City Will Get A Full Scale Makeover From Hgtv

After receiving a flood of 5,000 entries, representing 2,600 cities from across the country, Wetumpka was chosen because, despite adversity, natural disasters and unexpected obstacles, the community’s undying spirit and resilience showed that they were ready to start a comeback with his help.

Jane Latman, president, said: “The Home Town acquisition will inspire small towns across America by showing them the impact that neighbors, local leaders and a few friends working together can have on their communities. “We have seen the power of This in Laurel and we will spark the same change in more small towns.”

During the premiere, work will begin immediately as a colorful mural, painted by local students, signals big changes are coming for Wetumpka. My privacy policy has seen and admired my fair share before and after, but it wasn’t until the spring of 2021 that I got serious about myself. It all started when I came across a real estate listing for a foreclosed farmhouse in the Mississippi Delta, and before I could say “One Mississippi,” I drove down the long stretch of flat farmland to see it for myself. Built in the 1930s, the house served as a hunting lodge for a family from Memphis until it changed hands and eventually fell into foreclosure. Yet, despite its seemingly better condition—peeling paint, birds fluttering in the foyer—I saw endless potential (those paneled walls! that cobblestone drive!) and asked fellow old house lovers and

To deal with the house simultaneously. Holly is the perfect collaborator: she has restored more houses than you can count with both hands, and we share a vision for this property that I can best describe as “design with a twist”. Here’s how, with the help of contractor Robert Douglas and many others, we prepared the 100-year-old house for Family Friendship together—and the lessons we learned along the way.

This property is hard to find, so we wanted to create a friendly welcome and register Crackerjack Junk Co. Tip: Go bigger than you think! After much consideration, we went with a 36-by-48 sign. Anything smaller would feel too small compared to the 10 acre environment.

We wanted to make a strong statement in the long front foyer, and the rich gray walls to the ceiling and high-gloss black trim did just that. The new upholstery on the curved antique chairs offers a nice masculine/feminine balance as seen in the house. Dog Otis loves jute rugs.

Also in the foyer, an antique hunting board welcomes guests with well-poured beverages, including Mississippi-made Old Soul bourbon, in vintage julep cups. To offset the darker paint, we chose copper light fixtures to provide contrast and warmth. Walking sticks in faux umbrellas reinforce the lodge’s ambiance, and woven baskets adorn outdoor essentials.
