Predator Proof Duck Pen – If I’m honestly building a carnivore proof duck house a little more intensive than I expected, add in a duck pond and maybe… who am I kidding that would be awesome! but then again when we don’t get a little done while doing the things we love to do.
When we decided to add ducks to our farm, we not only wanted to give them plenty of space to do their duck things, but also protect them from the variety of predators we have. here, in the middle of nowhere Florida. While this may be a larger project than originally planned, we are pleased to report that to date we have not lost a single bird to predators while they are still alive. safe in their encirclement.

The duck coop is upholstered with 1/2″ hard cloth and the entire frame rests on the perimeter of a concrete block to prevent the wood from getting wet and rotting. This combination at least as of this writing has protected birds for over 4 years. Duck pond is on the restoration list, still continuing to finalize some details. The construction of duck ponds has been a long process and is still evolving. The ducks… I have tried several water pumps from aquarium pumps to sump pumps. They eventually wear out and need maintenance or repair so we are currently researching and upgrading to a duck pond in the near future.
The 1/2″ hard cloth completely covers the 28′ x 20′ 3 pen rabbit and duck enclosure. The duck pen measures approx. 14′ x 20′ with a divider wall 4′ high.
The barn currently houses both turkeys and rabbits, but can be easily adapted to different animal needs.

Important Things To Consider When Building A Duck Coop
